Programming
From local concerts to global stages, we create music that brings people together.
At North Street Music, programming is more than curating performances — it’s about telling stories. Whether it’s a one-off concert, a community celebration or a major international festival, we approach every event with a ‘story first’ mindset. We begin by asking: What makes this place, these people, and this moment unique? The answer becomes the foundation of a compelling, meaningful program that resonates deeply with audiences.
We have programmed everything from intimate chamber concerts to large-scale outdoor spectacles. One of our most significant projects was the three-week cultural festival for the 2011 ISAF World Sailing Championships in Fremantle. Tasked with “creating an exciting and diverse programme of cultural activities that will showcase Australian lifestyle, the sport of sailing and the arts,” we curated a city-wide experience blending music, culture, and community — turning Fremantle into a celebration of local identity on an international stage.
North Street Music has also partnered with numerous local and state governments to deliver large-scale public events. For over a decade, we’ve worked with the City of Joondalup on its iconic Valentine’s Concert, programming unforgettable orchestral performances for audiences of up to 10,000 people. We understand how to design events that scale — from single-day programs to multi-week festivals — all while retaining artistic integrity, audience appeal, and logistical precision.
Our programming is also enriched by the leadership of Creative Director Bourby Webster, whose deep commitment to cultural inclusion has seen her work extensively with Aboriginal artists, musicians and creatives across Western Australia. Under the banner of Perth Symphony Orchestra, Bourby has engaged and championed extraordinary First Nations talent for major events including the Western Australian of the Year Awards, the Matagarup Bridge Creative Project, and regional tours that bring music and storytelling to communities across the state. These collaborations are built on respect, consultation, and a shared belief in the power of music to honour culture, elevate voices, and foster genuine connection.
Whether you need a headline act for an opening gala, a bespoke music program for a civic celebration, or a full cultural festival designed from the ground up which showcases the best local and international talent, North Street Music brings creativity, collaboration and experience to every brief.
